lyrics

Lyrics:

"Man in the Moon" (key of B)

In a train station waiting room
On a sleepless night, I'd assume
An old man sat next to me
And told me this story

He said, "In the sky, there is a man
That lives inside the moon
He'd smile down and say how proud he is of me
I was afraid he wouldn't like what he'd see"
He said, "the Man in the Moon, he knew me well
He held my hand and held me back from hell
He'd give me all I need until I asked for more
And then he'd say, "you've already got me".

He'd say, "Man in the Moon, please
Remember me
For I'm hung from my own tree
Wishing you would love what you see".

He said he told the Man in the Moon,
"I'll be there soon
I've not lived very long
But here, I don't feel strong"
He'd say, "Man in the Moon, love me
Even though I'm not what you want me to be".
"Then all my failures and my faults", he said
"Danced alone in their last waltz".

(Chorus)

Everyone says that he'd still love the lost
"Among them, I am the worst," he said
"I was no more lost than than the next man,
And no less lost than the last"
"I knew the man in the Moon, as a young boy," I told the old man
And he wouldn't want me now.
I cried that night, for a while, you know
Till I yelled out the window

I said, "Man in the Moon, please
Remember me
For I'm hung from my own tree
Wishing you would love what you see".

And as I shouted and cried, that Man in the Moon looked down, at me
And I heard his voice echo back at my broken form, and what he said broke me:

"My son, please
Why don't you see
I've cut the ropes from your tree a long time ago, trust me
Don't be scared, cause I love what I see".
